Archaeological Expedition in the Zerenda District of Akmola Region: Science, Discoveries, and the Training of Future Specialists

Archaeological research is ongoing in the Zerenda District of Akmola Region within the framework of the grant-funded project AP26102637, “Investigation of the Socio-Ecological System of the Bronze Age Settlement of Karsak Using Natural Science Methods,” carried out under the supervision of M.K. Khabdulina. Researchers are studying Bronze Age settlement and burial sites in an effort to reconstruct the characteristics of economic activities, the organization of living space, and the adaptation mechanisms of ancient populations. The data obtained will make it possible to reconstruct more comprehensively the way of life of the inhabitants of the Karsak I settlement.

Doctoral and master’s students of the educational program “Archaeology and Ethnology” are taking part in the expedition. For them, fieldwork constitutes an important component of professional training. Participation in the expedition enables them to acquire practical skills in conducting archaeological excavations, working with field materials, documenting and carrying out their initial processing, as well as gaining valuable experience in independent research activities.
