Students of the Department of Geodesy and Cartography Completed Educational Field Practice at the Tumar Training and Recreation Center

From June 1 to July 7, 2026, first-year students of the educational programs 6B07311 – “Geodesy and Cartography” and 6B07314 – “Urban Planning and Cadastre” of the Department of Geodesy and Cartography at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University completed their educational field practice at the Tumar Training and Recreation Center located in Zerendy village, Zerendy district, Akmola region.

A total of 18 students participated in the practice, including 8 students from the “Geodesy and Cartography” program and 10 students from the “Urban Planning and Cadastre” program. The practice was supervised by A.B. Beisen, lecturer of the Department of Geodesy and Cartography. The field practice aimed to consolidate theoretical knowledge, develop professional competencies, and strengthen practical skills in conducting engineering and geodetic works under real field conditions.

During the practice, students carried out a range of geodetic activities including establishing horizontal and vertical control networks, conducting linear and angular measurements, performing leveling operations, processing field data, and preparing topographic materials. The practical work was conducted using educational geodetic equipment including the CST/Berger DGT2 theodolite and CST/Berger SAL 24ND level, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with professional surveying instruments. Upon completion of the practice, students prepared final reports and summarized the results of their field measurements.

Educational field practice is an important stage in professional training and contributes to the development of practical competencies, research skills, and readiness for further academic and professional activities.
