INDUSTRIAL INTERNSHIP: A VALUABLE STEP TOWARD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In accordance with the approved curriculum and academic calendar, students enrolled in the educational programs 6B02121 – Architectural Design and 6B02120 – Graphic Design completed their industrial internship from June 1 to June 20.
The industrial internship is supervised by Dr. T.K. Samuratova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences. Throughout the internship, she provided methodological guidance, advised the students, and monitored the implementation of the internship program.
On the first day of the internship, Dr. Samuratova explained that its primary objective was to enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real professional environment, develop practical skills, and adapt their competencies to the demands of the modern labor market. She also provided valuable recommendations and methodological guidance for the successful completion of the internship.
The internship was organized at a high professional level and took place at leading companies and design studios, including Palitra Printing House, Hazifa Ethno Design Studio, and other partner organizations. During the internship, students became familiar with real production processes and gained professional experience in the following areas:
mastering prepress preparation processes, learning the operating principles of printing equipment, and understanding product formatting and color correction techniques;
designing contemporary products inspired by national traditions, developing ethnic-style branding and packaging design, and implementing creative concepts from initial sketches to finished products;
creating 3D models of buildings and interiors, preparing technical drawings and project documentation, and working with modern construction materials.
Throughout the internship, highly qualified specialists and leading designers from the host organizations shared their professional expertise, provided practical guidance, and mentored the students.
Dr. T.K. Samuratova continuously monitored students' daily progress through the Smart.ENU platform, provided recommendations on assigned tasks, and supervised the quality of the work performed. At the end of each week, completed tasks were evaluated, their quality was analyzed, and objectives for the following week were outlined. Upon completion of the internship, its outcomes, challenges, and key achievements were reviewed and assessed.
The internship was carried out in three stages:
Week One – Orientation Stage. Students became familiar with the internal regulations of the organizations, occupational health and safety requirements, organizational structures, technical capabilities, and production facilities. Internship plans were approved, and initial assignments were distributed.
Week Two – Practical Training Stage. Students actively participated in professional activities by developing design projects using graphic software, working according to clients' requirements, creating product layouts, and taking part in real production processes.
Week Three – Final Stage. Students systematized their completed work, corrected identified shortcomings, prepared their projects for presentation, finalized internship reports, and received performance evaluations from the host organizations. All completed projects were submitted for final assessment.
Overall, the industrial internship enabled students to successfully integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience. They enhanced their professional competencies by applying Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDRAW, 3ds Max, and AutoCAD to real-world production tasks. Furthermore, they gained valuable experience working in a professional environment, developed effective teamwork and communication skills, and learned to deliver high-quality results within established deadlines.
The internship made a significant contribution to improving the professional competitiveness of future design specialists. The internship program was completed successfully and in full, and all students received the highest grade, "Excellent."
