Yeldana Bakhytovna Asanbayeva successfully defended doctoral dissertation

On 22 June 2026, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted the dissertation defense of Yeldana Bakhytovna Asanbayeva for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the educational programme "6D011700 – Kazakh Language and Literature." The dissertation was entitled "Linguodidactic Foundations of Using Film Discourse in Teaching the Kazakh Language." The dissertation was completed at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University. 

The purpose of the research was to comprehensively define the theoretical, methodological and linguodidactic foundations of using film discourse in teaching the Kazakh language, to systematize its multimodal, pragmatic and linguocultural potential, to substantiate audiovisual perception as an independent linguistic and cognitive skill, to develop a modular instructional programme and a system of exercises based on film discourse for L1 and L2 learners, and to verify their effectiveness through pedagogical experimentation. 

The domestic scientific supervisor was Professor Karlygash Kurmangalikyzy Sarekenova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, while the foreign scientific consultant was Professor Ibrahim Şahin, Doctor of Science, Ege University (Türkiye). 

Following the voting procedure, the Dissertation Council decided to award Yeldana Bakhytovna Assanbayeva the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of "8D017 – Teacher Training in Languages and Literature."
