
Open Air Library: An Open-Air Reading Space
As part of its efforts to promote a reading culture, the Scientific Library of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University organized the Open Air Library – An Open-Air Reading Space literary gathering. Held outdoors, the event provided an opportunity for participants to engage in open discussions about books, develop their literary appreciation, and strengthen collegial connections.
During the team-building event, library staff introduced the books they had recently read and shared their thoughts on their themes, content, and educational value. The Director of the Scientific Library, Bakytzhan Orazaliyev, spoke about the historical and cultural significance of Äbish Kekilbayev’s novel Eleñ-Alañ. Colleagues also discussed Women's Love (Äyel Mahabbaty) by Mukhtar Magauin, The Boarding School Boy (Internattyñ Balasy) by Markhabat Baigut, Süyekshi and Dermene by Dulat Isabekov, as well as Alexander Bushkov’s Stalin. The Red Monarch. The event was further enriched by a recitation of the poem The Beauty Met at the Theater from D. Zhalel’s poetry collection Seniñ Zhanaryñ.
The gathering was held in the format of an open literary dialogue, where participants exchanged reading experiences, recommended books to one another, and discussed the works that had made the strongest impression on them. The outdoor literary meeting became another meaningful step in promoting reading, fostering critical thinking, and cultivating literary appreciation.
