"Qaton-Qaragai Trail – 2026" Race Dedicated to ENU's 30th Anniversary

On 6 July 2026, the "Qaton-Qaragai Trail – 2026" trail running race dedicated to the 30th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University was held in the East Kazakhstan Region.

The event aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle and popularize trail running, one of the most exciting forms of long-distance running in natural terrain. The race was organized by the Katon-Karagai District Administration, the Department of Sociology of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and the Republican Public Association El Sport. The event was sponsored by the Kaz Minerals Group.

The competition featured 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km trail races held in the vicinity of Katon-Karagai village. Both amateur runners and experienced athletes took part in the event. Participants ran along the Sarymsakty trail of Katon-Karagai National Park, following a scenic route through the forest.

Nearly 200 athletes registered for the race, including winners of international and national competitions. Participants came from Astana, Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kokshetau, Semey, Karaganda, and various districts of the East Kazakhstan Region. The participants also included students and faculty members of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

The winners and prize-winners in the youth category, both women and men, were awarded commemorative prizes dedicated to the 30th anniversary of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
