PhD Dissertation in Journalism Successfully Defended at L.N. Gumilyov ENU

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted a meeting of the Dissertation Council for the field of study "8D032 – Journalism and Information." During the session, doctoral candidate Aida Amanovna Syzdykova successfully defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) under the educational program "8D03204 – Journalism."

The research, titled "Transformation of the Genre System of Kazakhstan's Internet Communication," is dedicated to the evolution of traditional genres in the digital environment, the emergence of new formats, and structural changes within the media communication system.

The meeting was chaired by Bauyrzhan Zhumakhanuly Omarov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Doctor of Philological Sciences.  Leading scholars and experts in journalism, political science, and media communications participated in the discussion of the research: Sultan Ertai, Marlan Onlasynkyzy Negizbayeva, Amangeldy Miramuly Shurentayev, Bibigul Zhumashovna Karimova, Aitolkyn Berikkyzy Ashimova, Talgat Begimuly Kaliyev, and Dmitry Petrovich Gavra. Joining the discussion online were colleagues from the Faculty of Journalism at Lomonosov Moscow State University: Candidates of Philological Sciences Natalia N. Vasilkova and Maria A. Vasilchenko.

The doctoral candidate’s academic advisors—Ulbosyn Meirbekovna Yesenbekova (Candidate of Philological Sciences) and Natalia Ivanovna Klushina (Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia)—gave a highly positive assessment of the research results, emphasizing its scientific novelty and practical significance.

The dissertation was also highly commended by the official reviewers: Sultan Ertai (PhD, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University) and Marlan Onlasynkyzy Negizbayeva (Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor of the UNESCO Chair in Journalism and Communication at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University).

Following a secret ballot by the members of the Dissertation Council, a decision was made to award Aida Amanovna Syzdykova the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of Journalism.
