A Dissertation on Information Security in the Media Space Successfully Defended at ENU

A meeting of the Dissertation Council for the field of "8D032 – Journalism and Information" was held at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
During the meeting, Aizhan Pernebekova, a doctoral student in the "6D050400 – Journalism" specialty, successfully defended her dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). The research systematizes scientific and theoretical concepts of information security and analyzes the country's legislative documents. Furthermore, based on specialized case studies and content analysis, it identifies types of cyberattacks on mass media and the impact of manipulative information on national consciousness. The study also analyzes the consequences of external informational influence on public consciousness and the nature of information threats during emergency situations. The work is particularly valuable for its practical recommendations aimed at strengthening information security in Kazakhstan’s media space and improving the activities of domestic media in this area. The researcher’s contribution as a co-author of an encyclopedic work alongside foreign scholars further broadened the scope of the scientific research, garnering significant interest from the council members.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Bauyrzhan Omarov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
