ENU scientist received a housing certificate as part of the state support for young researchers

Kazbek Dyusembayev, PhD, Senior lecturer of the Biotechnology and Microbiology Department, Institute of Natural Sciences of The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, was one of five young scientists in Kazakhstan who received housing certificates as part of state support for young researchers. The solemn presentation of certificates took place with the participation of the Acting Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek.
Kazbek Dyusembayev is an ENU graduate with a degree in Biotechnology. In 2016, he won the Bolashak Scholarship and continued his doctoral studies at Griffith University (Australia), where in 2023 he defended his PhD thesis on advanced diagnostic methods for chickpea ascochytosis.
The main scientific interests of the scientist are related to the diagnosis of diseases of agricultural plants, the study of their pathogens and the development of modern methods for the early detection and control of phytopathogens. During his studies in Australia, he researched the fungal pathogen Ascochyta rabiei and worked on the development of biosensors for its early diagnosis. In 2019, he was awarded The Crawford Fund Student Award for his active participation in scientific projects.
Since 2023, Kazbek Dyusembayev has been working at ENU, where he teaches courses "General Microbiology" and "Industrial Biotechnology" in English and directs students' research projects.
The scientist also actively participates in scientific projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2024, he led a project of young scientists dedicated to the genetic characterization of fungal diseases of chickpeas in Kazakhstan. In addition, Dyusembayev conducts joint research with scientists from Griffith University on the development of biosensors for the early diagnosis of plant diseases.
In 2024, his scientific work was published in the international journal Scientific Reports published by Nature. The study is devoted to the rapid detection of chickpea ascochytosis without the use of DNA amplification.
In 2023, Kazbek Dyusembayev became the recipient of a JANA ASU grant, under which he developed a method for the rapid and targeted detection of fungal diseases of apple trees using PCR testing.
"I have received a housing certificate, which is provided free of charge. For me, this is not only significant social support, but also evidence that the government pays special attention to young scientists and creates conditions for their professional development.
Today, young researchers have the opportunity to implement research projects in collaboration with leading scientists and foreign universities. We managed to participate in projects with scientists from Germany, Malaysia and other countries. Such support and opportunities allow young specialists not only to develop in science, but also to contribute to the development of national science.
I believe that a housing certificate is of great importance for young scientists. When the state supports you not only as a specialist, but also helps you solve important social issues, it gives you confidence and becomes an additional motivation for further work.
I would like to wish young scientists not to be afraid to set big goals for themselves. If you are just starting your career in science, do not deviate from your plans and dreams, strive for new knowledge and set high goals for yourself," Kazbek Dyusembayev said.
