
Meeting of the Head of the Department of Regional Studies with first-year doctoral students

On September 3, 2026, the head of the Department of Regional Studies, Professor A.N. Ospanova, held a meeting with doctoral students of the 1st year of study of the Regional Studies educational program.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the organization of doctoral students' research activities and scientific internships. Professor A.N. Ospanova explained the basic requirements for the organization and completion of foreign scientific internships, their importance for the professional and academic development of doctoral students, as well as the possibility of participating in international scientific and educational programs.
The doctoral students were informed about the need to plan a scientific internship in advance, taking into account the topic of the dissertation research, the choice of a foreign scientific organization or university corresponding to the research profile, as well as the preparation of the necessary documents.
The issues of academic mobility, establishment of international scientific contacts, participation in research projects, work with foreign scientific databases and publication of research results in international scientific publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science were considered separately.
Professor A.N. Ospanova emphasized that the scientific internship should be directly related to the content of the dissertation research and aimed at obtaining new scientific results, mastering modern research methods, working with foreign sources and developing international academic cooperation.
Also during the meeting, the doctoral students were given recommendations on the formation of an individual trajectory of scientific development, preparation of scientific publications, participation in international conferences and seminars, as well as active interaction with domestic and foreign scientific supervisors and research centers.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the department wished the doctoral students a successful start of their studies, productive research and high results in the preparation of dissertation research, noting the importance of academic mobility and international cooperation in the training of modern specialists in the field of regional studies.
