Kazakh spiritual and cultural heritage studied in France

Tengesh Serikbaykyzy Kalenova, head of the program-targeted funding scientific project "Researching the social role of folk art in the formation of modern national identity: transformation and reconstruction of spiritual culture", along with project executors Gaukhar Satybaldinovna Abdrakhmanova and Gulzhakhan Zarubaevna Tazhitova, visited Paris, France, to collect data for the project. This trip was carried out at the invitation of the "ALEM" association, which aims to develop, preserve, and promote Kazakh culture in France. The members of the scientific project met with the President of the association, Zulfat Imasheva, and her deputy, Mayra Iskakova. They familiarized themselves with the association's activities in preserving, developing, and promoting Kazakh culture in France, and received information about the work being done to introduce Kazakh traditions, national values, and cultural heritage to the Kazakh diaspora abroad and pass them on to future generations.
During the business trip, they visited the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and learned about the organization's activities in preserving, protecting, and promoting cultural heritage. Throughout the visit, information was gathered on the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the popularization of traditional cultural values, and their transmission to the next generation. They also reviewed data relevant to the project's research focus.
A meeting was held with representatives of the Kazakh-Turkish-French association of the Kazakh diaspora in France, yielding information about the association's ongoing work. Their efforts in presenting Kazakh culture abroad, preserving national traditions and cultural values, and passing them on to future generations were studied.
Furthermore, the scientists met with members of the Kazakh community regarding the prominent Kazakh political figure Mustafa Shokay. They received information about ongoing efforts to introduce Mustafa Shokay's name to younger generations, preserve historical memory, promote his legacy through cultural and educational events, and popularize Kazakh national values.
The collected information has supplemented the materials that will be used in researching the mechanisms of preserving and reviving national cultural values in a foreign environment. Such cultural events abroad not only promote national traditions but also foster mutual understanding and cultural dialogue between different cultures. The obtained data will be used as empirical material in analyzing the processes of preserving, reviving, and adapting Kazakh cultural heritage to the modern social environment.
