ENU Hosts Tournament in the Traditional Kazakh Game «Asyq Atu»

The Institute of Continuing Education, in cooperation with the Department of Physical Education and Sports of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, held a tournament in the traditional Kazakh game «Asyq Atu» for students of ENU and participants of the Silver University.
The development of physical education and sports is an important aspect of maintaining good health, preventing diseases, and promoting an active lifestyle. Joint sporting events not only encourage physical activity but also contribute to strengthening interaction and communication between different generations.
«Asyq Atu» is one of the ancient and widely practiced traditional games of the Kazakh people. The game develops agility, accuracy, coordination, attentiveness, alertness, and self-control, while also contributing to the preservation and promotion of national traditions.
A distinctive feature of the tournament was the joint participation of young people and representatives of the older generation. This format fully reflects the concept of the «Dialogue of Generations» project implemented by the Institute of Continuing Education. Within the framework of the project, young people and older adults are not separate participants in individual activities; instead, they interact through joint activities that combine physical education, national traditions, intellectual development, and intergenerational communication.
The tournament's judging panel included Eskendir Rakhmetov, President of the «Asyq Atu» Federation, as well as Rakhat Mamyrkulov and Kuralai Kulanova, Senior Lecturers of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of ENU.
Following the tournament, participants noted the high level of organization and expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to take part in a joint sporting event that brought students and Silver University participants together.
Certificates of achievement were presented to the winners and prize-winners of the tournament.
Events of this kind contribute to strengthening intergenerational ties, promoting traditional national sports, preserving cultural heritage, and fostering a culture of active and healthy ageing.
