More than 100 participants attended the start of the autumn marathon ENU Marathon

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University once again brought together students, faculty members and staff around sports and an active lifestyle. The university hosted the traditional ENU Marathon, a large-scale athletics event that has become one of ENU’s prominent sporting traditions.
The marathon was aimed not only at completing the distance, but also at creating an atmosphere of unity, mutual support and team spirit. For ENU, the development of mass sports is an important part of university culture, contributing to the promotion of healthy habits and the well-rounded development of individuals.
The sporting event was organized by the Institute of Natural Sciences, the Department of Youth Affairs, and the Department of Physical Education and Sports at ENU. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the organizers, the participants were provided with the necessary conditions to complete the distance safely and comfortably.
Speaking on behalf of the university administration and the organizers, ENU Ombudsperson Nelya Shapekova delivered welcoming remarks and emphasized the importance of physical education and an active lifestyle in the lives of modern students and the university community.
Before the start, professional coaches and instructors from the Department of Physical Education and Sports led a dynamic warm-up session for all participants. The exercises helped prepare the runners for the upcoming distance and get them ready for the race.
The central event of the ENU Marathon was a 10-kilometer race. More than 100 participants took to the starting line, including experienced athletes and amateur runners, students and university staff.
Throughout the distance, the participants demonstrated endurance, determination and a strong commitment to achieving their goals. For some, the race was another sporting challenge, while for others, it was an opportunity to test their abilities over such a distance for the first time.
The support among participants created a special atmosphere throughout the marathon. The event became more than just a sporting competition — it turned into a shared university occasion that brought together members of different generations of the ENU community.
Following the race, a solemn awards ceremony was held. Winners and prize-winners in various categories among students and staff received medals and commemorative prizes.
Another pleasant moment for the participants was a special treat prepared by the ENU Ombudsperson. After crossing the finish line, the runners were welcomed with traditional baursaks and hot raspberry tea.
