The “Holidays With A Book” Marathon Has Come To An End

As part of the republican project “Reading Nation”, the Scientific Library of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University summed up the results of the summer reading marathon “Holidays with a Book”.

The aim of the marathon was to motivate students to read, increase their interest in fiction, and contribute to the development of a sustainable reading culture among young people.

The marathon was held from June 10 to August 31, 2026.

Conditions for participation in the marathon:

• read from 5 to 10 works of fiction during the summer holidays;
• publish a brief review and the most impressive quotation from each book read on social media in the form of a post or video.

As part of the marathon, participants not only read fiction but also shared their impressions of the works they had read on social media, recommending books to other readers.

At the award ceremony, Bakytzhan Orazaliyev, Director of the Scientific Library, noted that reading is an important spiritual value that broadens a person’s horizons and contributes to deepening their worldview. He also encouraged young people to make reading an integral part of their daily lives.

Following the results of the marathon, Tolganai Nasikhatkyzy, a second-year doctoral student at ENU, was recognized as the “Best Reader.”

Serik Gulzhamal, Aisina Aikyz, Rustemov Yerassyl and Umbetzhanova Merey were awarded Letters of Appreciation for their active participation in the marathon.

The winner and active participants were presented with fiction books and memorable gifts provided by the Qasymkitap bookstore.
