ENU Scientists Co-Organized an International Conference on Geotechnics in Moscow

Scientists from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University co-organized the II International Conference “Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics in High-Rise and Underground Construction,” held at the National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU).

The event was held as part of the IV International Scientific and Practical Symposium “The Future of the Construction Industry: Challenges and Development Prospects” and brought together leading experts in geotechnics from different countries, representatives of the academic community, and construction industry practitioners.

The conference was attended by Professor Askar Zhussupbekov, Director of the Geotechnical Institute at L.N. Gumilyov ENU; Abdulla Omarov, Associate Professor; and Ankit Garg, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Construction.

The conference focused on modern approaches to the study and design of geotechnical structures. Particular attention was paid to determining the physical and mechanical properties of soils, digital modeling, computational and experimental methods, and the application of artificial intelligence technologies in geotechnics.

Separate sessions addressed the design of pile foundations, deep supports, and underground structures, as well as construction in complex engineering and geological conditions, including areas with unstable structural bonds and permafrost.

Professor Askar Zhussupbekov of L.N. Gumilyov ENU presented a report entitled «Assessment of Engineering Geological Conditions for Foundation Selection Based on GIS». The report was prepared in connection with the commercialization grant DP25997309, «Development of geoinformation database - artificial intelligence for optimization of bases and foundations for construction in Kazakhstan».

Associate Professor Abdulla Omarov delivered a lecture on the Experimental Evaluation of PPE Detection Using Drones and Computer Vision.

Postdoctoral researcher Ankit Garg presented the results of a study entitled «Comparative Effects of Wood, Cow-Dung, Rice-Husk, and Chicken-Manure Biochar on Soil Water Content, Matric Suction, and Electrical Conductivity».

The participation of ENU scientists in the organization and proceedings of the conference provided an important platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge, professional expertise, and modern research approaches.

Holding the event at NRU MGSU contributes to further strengthening scientific and technical cooperation between L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, as well as expanding ENU’s international ties with leading universities and research centers.
