
ENU Inclusive Support Center Holds Training Seminar on the «1+2» Model

The Inclusive Support Center of L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University held a training seminar on supporting students with special educational needs within the framework of the «1+2» model.
The event was held at S. Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University as part of the university’s «1+2» Model: Inclusive Volunteering Workshops project. The seminar aimed to promote a culture of inclusive education, develop practical skills for supporting students with special educational needs, and facilitate the exchange of experience between educational institutions.
As noted by Lazzat Tolegenkyzy, Vice-Rector for Social and Infrastructure Development at ENU, one of the key areas of work is the creation of an accessible and inclusive educational environment at higher education institutions.
During the seminar, Yerhan Ordabay, Lead Supervisor of the ENU Inclusive Support Center, introduced participants to the key principles of inclusive support, explained the specifics of the “1+2” model, and discussed opportunities for its application in the educational process. Particular attention was paid to effective cooperation among specialists, faculty members, student activists, and volunteers in providing support to students.
The practical part of the program included an introduction to the basics of sign language using video materials. Nursultan Mussayev, a representative of the “Asyl Amal” Public Foundation, a Category II emergency medicine physician and surgeon, conducted a practical session on first aid.
The educational program was complemented by a numismatic exhibition entitled “The History of Monetary Circulation in Kazakhstan: Three Eras – One Country,” presented by ENU third-year student Ruslan Erzhanov.
At the end of the seminar, participants had an opportunity to ask questions, share their opinions, and complete a feedback survey. The participants also discussed proposals aimed at further developing the inclusive support system and improving practices for supporting students with special educational needs.
