“BRIDGE OF UNITY”: YOUNG PEOPLE LEARN FROM THE WISDOM AND LIFE EXPERIENCE OF THE OLDER GENERATION

On September 30, an event was held at the House of Friendship in Astana as part of the “Bridge of Unity” project, which aims to strengthen social harmony and national unity among young people.
The project was organized by the Public Institution “Kogamdyk Kelisim” of the Committee for the Development of Interethnic Relations under the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As part of the project, first-year students of the Sociology programme at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, accompanied by their group curator S.B. Tagaeva, visited the House of Friendship for an educational tour.
During the visit, the students met representatives of ethnocultural associations and learned about their activities aimed at preserving cultural values, promoting interethnic dialogue, and strengthening social harmony.
An important part of the programme was a meeting with representatives of the older generation held in connection with the International Day of Older Persons. The meeting was held under the theme “We Are Role Models for Young People.” Special attention was given to veterans of the House of Friendship who have made a significant contribution to preserving spiritual and cultural values and strengthening social harmony and national unity.
Representatives of the older generation shared their life experiences with the students and offered them valuable advice and guidance. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of intergenerational continuity, respect for older people, mutual understanding, and unity in society.
The “Bridge of Unity” project served as an important initiative aimed at strengthening intergenerational ties, fostering respect for the older generation among young people, and promoting shared social values.
