ENU lecturer presents at international conference marking Olzhas Suleimenov's 90th anniversary

On 29 September 2026, Almaty hosted the IX International Academic Conference "Intellectual History of Central Asia in the Second Half of the 20th Century." The conference was organised by the International Centre for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO and marked the 90th anniversary of the poet Olzhas Suleimenov.
Nurzhan Koshkenov, PhD, Senior Lecturer at the Graduate School of Journalism and Social Sciences of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, delivered a paper entitled "The Media-Epistemological Dimension of Olzhas Suleimenov's Formula of Conscious Interdependence within the Artificial Intelligence Paradigm."
The paper examined Suleimenov's formula "from centuries of dependence, through a period of independence, to an era of conscious interdependence" not merely as an ethical norm of international relations but as an epistemological model of how contributions to knowledge are attributed. Drawing on empirical data, it demonstrated a structural correspondence between the problem of cultural attribution raised in AZ i IA and the loss of data provenance in generative artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The paper concluded by proposing three norms for presenting national heritage in machine-readable form with documented provenance. The third was substantiated as the infrastructural mechanism of the "Reviving a Reading Nation" programme in the age of artificial intelligence.
