I am - TOLYQ ADAM

On 20 September 2026, students from the Faculty of Law at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University visited the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The visit was organised by Anton Olegovich Makrushin.
The cultural and educational visit aimed to broaden students’ knowledge of Kazakhstan’s history and encourage respect for the country’s historical and cultural heritage. Exploring the museum’s exhibitions enabled students to complement their classroom learning through direct engagement with cultural heritage.
Students shared their knowledge of Kazakhstan’s history and prepared short presentations on selected museum exhibits. Angelina Kaplunova spoke about Tyrannosaurus Rex; Danial Izteleuov presented the mollusc Nautilus Pompilius; Zhanel Negmanova discussed the Golden Man; and Sultan Aityshev described a dagger discovered in the Issyk burial mound in the Almaty Region.
During the visit, the lecturer and students also attended a masterclass delivered by Kairat Kairatovich Battalov, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Astana IT University.
The museum visit reflects the values of Abai’s concept of “Tolyq Adam” (“The Whole Person”), which brings together the pursuit of knowledge, moral development and responsibility towards society. The methodological guidelines for organising student development activities at universities identify respect for the country’s history and cultural heritage as an objective of patriotic education and explicitly include museum-based learning among the recommended forms of cultural and educational engagement with students.
Such activities complement students’ professional training, providing opportunities to broaden their horizons and reflect on their personal responsibility for preserving historical memory and cultural values.
