ENU Graduates Learn About Opportunities Offered by the “School of Young Civil Servants” Project

L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University held a meeting between graduating students and representatives of the Astana City Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs.
The main purpose of the event was to attract talented and proactive young people to the civil service, increase their interest in public administration, provide guidance for their professional development, and introduce them to opportunities for internships in government agencies and future employment in the civil service through the “School of Young Civil Servants” project.
The meeting was attended by Baizhuman Kashkhynbay, Director of the Department of Academic Affairs. He highlighted the opportunities that civil service offers to university graduates and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in supporting the professional development of young people.
Yербол Zholdangar, Head of the Astana City Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs, spoke about the procedures for entering the civil service, engaging young people in public administration, and creating conditions for the professional growth of future specialists.
Aliya Smagulova, Head of the Civil Service Department, introduced the key areas of the “School of Young Civil Servants” project and outlined the stages of participation. These include submitting an application, writing an essay on designated topics, completing a preparatory programme at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan or its branches, defending a project based on practical training, completing an internship at government agencies, and passing the civil service recruitment test.
Students were also provided with information about the new civil service recruitment system and the requirements established by law. Particular attention was given to identifying talented young people, helping them gain practical experience, and preparing future professionals for careers in the civil service.
The meeting also brought encouraging news. Nariman Ongarbayev, an ENU graduate of the Department of Management at the Faculty of Economics and a participant in the “School of Young Civil Servants” project, has started working at the Anti-Corruption Prevention Department of the Astana City Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs.
This achievement demonstrates that university graduates have opportunities to begin their professional careers in the civil service and apply the knowledge they have acquired in practice.
At the end of the meeting, graduating students received information about employment opportunities in the civil service and answers to their questions. Such meetings help young people define their career paths, broaden their understanding of public service, and strengthen their motivation to contribute to society.
