Rector of L.N. Gumilyov ENU Meets Academician V.E. Agabekov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

On October 12, 2026, the Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Yerlan B. Sydykov met with Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Vladimir E. Agabekov. The meeting was attended by the Director of the Institute of Natural Sciences, Zharas G. Berdenov.

The participants discussed prospects for the development of cooperation between Belarusian and Kazakhstani scientists, the development of the Institute of Natural Sciences, and bilateral partnership in scientific research.

The possible signing of a cooperation memorandum between the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in the future was considered separately. The institute, established in 1998, operates as a research center in the field of thin-film and nanostructured materials; V.E. Agabekov has headed it for more than 20 years.

The meeting took place during V.E. Agabekov's visit to Kazakhstan. Earlier, on October 9, he gave an open lecture at the Institute of Natural Sciences, «Fundamental and Applied Research in Small-Tonnage Chemistry», in which he presented the research directions of his institute and spoke about opportunities for cooperation between scientists of the two countries.
