“Ask a Librarian” Information Week

From October 5 to 15, 2026, the “Ask a Librarian” Information Week, organized by the staff of the Scientific Library, was held in the student residences of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
The purpose of the event was to introduce students to the library’s services and information resources, improve their information literacy, and develop skills for the effective use of electronic resources in their studies and research activities.
Throughout the week, the staff of the Scientific Library met with students and explained how to use the electronic catalogue and databases, search for scientific information, and access the library’s electronic resources. Students were introduced to the official website of the Scientific Library — https://lib.enu.kz
, which provides information about its services, resources, events, and new acquisitions. The library’s electronic catalogue — https://library.enu.kz/MegaPro/Web — was also presented, allowing users to search for books, periodicals, research papers, and other materials.
Special attention was paid to registration on the MyLOFT platform, which enables users to gain remote access to subscription-based electronic databases and full-text information resources. The library staff explained the registration procedure and demonstrated the main features of the platform and its mobile application.
In addition, students were informed about the opportunities offered by the American Corner and Makerspace Astana Information Resource Centre, as well as the courses, training sessions, seminars, and workshops held there.
During the meetings, the “Reading Nation” national marathon was promoted. Students were encouraged to read and develop a culture of reading. The activities of the clubs and organizations affiliated with the library were also presented. BookenClub members exchanged views with students in an informal setting and spoke about the club’s activities and initiatives aimed at promoting reading.
Students asked questions about the library’s services and resources and received advice from specialists.
The “Ask a Librarian” Information Week helped broaden students’ knowledge of the library’s opportunities and increase their interest in using electronic resources and reading.
