ENU Discussed the Legacy of Lev Gumilev and Intergenerational Continuity

Institute of Continuing Education of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU), in collaboration with the L.N. Gumilyov Museum, held an event entitled “Intergenerational Dialogue Through the Life and Work of L.N. Gumilyov” as part of the ENU Silver University’s “Dialogue of Generations” project.
During the event, Symbat Akhmetova, Head of the L.N. Gumilyov Museum, spoke about the multifaceted personality of the outstanding scholar, his scientific legacy, and his profound connection with the Kazakh people. She emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and ensuring continuity between generations, highlighting the role of such meetings in bringing young people and older adults closer together.
The meeting also featured the announcement of the results of the essay competition entitled “What Is the Meaning of Life?”, organized by the Speech Genre Club of ENU Silver University for young visitors to the museum. As the club’s head, Symbat Akhmetova announced the results and presented certificates of recognition to participants whose essays stood out for their meaningful content and thoughtful exploration of the topic.
The event was also attended by Mukhtar Yerketayev and Pavel Kazantsev, representatives of the Republican Council of Veterans. They introduced participants to the “Formula of Wisdom” project, which aims to preserve and pass on the life experience, spiritual values, and wisdom of the older generation. Addressing the young participants, the veterans offered their bata — a traditional Kazakh blessing — wishing them a strong commitment to learning, continuous self-development, and success in achieving their goals.
Older adult participants emphasized the importance of such meetings in strengthening mutual understanding and continuity between generations. Participants exchanged views, proposed ideas for further joint initiatives, and expressed their interest in continuing educational, cultural, and community engagement between young people and older adults.
All participants highly praised the organization of the event and expressed their gratitude to the leadership of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University for creating opportunities for lifelong learning, meaningful communication, and learning alongside younger generations.
