ENU Staff Hear the President’s Address

The leadership and faculty of The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University listened to the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan.
The Address covered key issues related to the country’s socio-economic development, the modernization of science and education, improving the quality of human capital, and the widespread adoption of new technologies.
“The development of artificial intelligence and the digital economy requires high-quality education, strong scientific research, and the training of a new generation of specialists. In this regard, universities are playing an increasingly important role as centers of education and scientific research.
“The Address also placed particular emphasis on improving the socio-economic well-being of the population. Initiatives aimed at developing healthcare and education, improving the pension system, supporting socially vulnerable groups, and increasing the minimum wage from 85,000 to 110,000 KZT are intended to improve people’s well-being. These measures will have a positive impact on regional development and job creation,” Vice-Rector Lyazzat Tolegenqyzy said.
Omirzhan Kokayev, Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Energy, emphasized that the Address clearly outlined priority areas for the development of the transport and energy sectors.
“The modernization of transport infrastructure, expansion of transit capacity, improvement of the logistics system, and ensuring energy security are essential tasks for the country’s sustainable economic development.
“University researchers and specialists are ready to contribute to these efforts by training qualified personnel for the transport and energy sectors, conducting scientific research, and implementing innovative projects,” Omirzhan Kokayev said.
During the meeting, participants discussed the significance of the initiatives outlined in the Address for the country’s development. Particular attention was given to the need for university researchers and faculty members to take an active part in achieving the objectives set for higher education and science.
Yerlan Sabitov, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, noted that the People’s Construction program would provide new momentum for the development of the construction industry and the renewal of the architectural appearance of settlements.
“The program will involve the construction of modern residential buildings, social facilities, and engineering infrastructure, helping to improve the quality of life. It will also create new jobs and open up opportunities for the development of domestic construction materials production and the training of qualified specialists.
“The systematic implementation of this program across all regions of the country will make a significant contribution to Kazakhstan’s development and improvement of its living environment. As specialists in architecture and civil engineering, we are also ready to contribute to addressing these large-scale challenges,” Yerlan Sabitov said.
Following the meeting, ENU staff expressed their support for the strategic initiatives of the Head of State and their readiness to contribute the University’s research and educational potential to their implementation.
