Optimizing management is the need of the times

Improving the organizational structure of The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, optimizing management mechanisms, and ensuring the effectiveness of the corporate governance system were the key topics of the recent meeting of the Board of Directors.
The issues discussed were aimed at improving ENU’s management system and strengthening key areas of institutional development, including the implementation of strategic priorities, ensuring the quality of management decisions, and monitoring the performance of the executive body. In particular, the organizational changes proposed by the University’s Management Board were comprehensively discussed and approved.
“The main objective of these changes is to clarify management functions, strengthen coordination between operational and digital areas, and improve the social support system for all students. In addition, the changes are intended to ensure coordinated management of infrastructure and technical areas, as well as clarify the functions and responsibilities of structural units,” Darkhan Mynbay, Chairman of the Board of Directors said.
The Board of Directors also approved a draft of amendments and additions to the University Charter. This document will help bring the University’s internal regulatory framework into line with current legislation and clarify the powers of its governing bodies.
Effective university management should not be limited to structural changes alone. Internal control, risk management, corruption prevention, and adherence to the principles of academic integrity are also essential components of corporate governance. In this regard, the Board of Directors reviewed reports on the activities of the Internal Audit Service and the Anti-Corruption Compliance Service for the third quarter of 2026.
During the reporting period, the Internal Audit Service audited the activities of the Scientific Library and developed recommendations aimed at improving the internal control system and mitigating risks. The Compliance Service will continue its efforts to foster an anti-corruption culture, strengthen academic integrity, and conduct anti-corruption reviews of internal regulatory documents.
This important work helps ensure transparency in management procedures, enhance accountability, and support the systematic operation of the University’s internal control mechanisms.
Another important responsibility of the Board of Directors is to ensure that adopted decisions are properly implemented and that their execution is monitored. This helps promote accountability and uphold the principles of responsibility within the University’s management system.
The Board of Directors will continue its work on the issues discussed.
