Guest Professor's Lecture

On 23 October 2026, the Department of "Archaeology and Ethnology" of the Faculty of History at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an open lecture by visiting professor A.I. Yakovlev, Candidate of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor at the Faculty of History of M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University (NEFU).

The lecture, entitled "From the Steppe to the Permafrost: Turkic Heritage and the Adaptation of Pastoral Cultures", was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the department. In his presentation, the lecturer highlighted key aspects of the transformation of the economic and cultural types of Turkic peoples during the development of extreme natural zones of Northeast Asia, with particular attention to the mechanisms by which pastoral traditions adapted to the conditions of the permafrost zone (cryolithozone).

The event was held in the format of an active dialogue: students and graduate students were able to ask questions about the methodology of studying adaptation mechanisms and to discuss prospects for further research into Turkic heritage in the archaeological and ethnographic materials of the region.
The Department of "Archaeology and Ethnology" expresses its gratitude to Aital Igorevich for his informative lecture and looks forward to further cooperation within the framework of the faculty's academic and educational projects.
