Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Zhaslan Tauzhanovich Likerov - a second-year master’s student in the Political Science program (7M03106) within the Department of Political Science (Faculty of International Relations) - delivered an open lecture as part of his pedagogical internship. The lecture, titled "Democratic Regimes in the Modern World: Theory and Practice," was presented to third-year undergraduate students in the Political Science program (6B03106) as part of the "Comparative Politics" course. His academic supervisor is Marina Yuryevna Onuchko, Candidate of Political Sciences and Associate Professor.
The lecture addressed the theoretical foundations of democratic political regimes, their defining characteristics and main types, as well as the functioning of democratic institutions. Particular attention was given to elections, political pluralism, separation of powers, the rule of law, and citizen participation in politics. Contemporary trends and challenges facing democracies were also discussed from a comparative perspective.
The open lecture helped deepen students’ understanding of democratic governance models, develop their comparative analysis skills, and connect political theory with contemporary political practice.
