ENU Students Win Prizes at the International Russian Literature Olympiad at MPGU

From 14 to 16 October 2026, Moscow Pedagogical State University (MPGU) hosted the 11th International Student Olympiad in Russian Literature and the 27th International Student Research and Practice Conference “Philological Science in the 21st Century: A Young Perspective”. Students of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University won prizes at both events, proudly representing Kazakhstan’s philological community.
L.N. Gumilyov ENU is a partner in these international academic initiatives. The University’s Department of Russian Philology serves on the organising committee of the Olympiad and conference, while its Head, Kadisha Rustembekovna Nurgali, takes an active part in organising them each year. This cooperation aims to advance philological scholarship and support student research.
The international academic event brought together more than 200 undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students. The programme featured research sessions, an essay competition, rhetoric and performance competitions, creative work contests, and a competition for Russian language and literature lessons. This varied programme enabled young researchers to demonstrate their knowledge, exchange experience, explore their creative potential and broaden their international academic contacts.
Our students Balausa Duisebayeva (fourth year, Russian Language and Literature Teacher Education) and Yana Chichulina (third year, Russian Language and Literature Teacher Education) achieved outstanding results under the academic supervision of M.A. Kanafina, Candidate of Philological Sciences and Senior Lecturer, winning prizes in several categories. Both students took first place in the essay competition. In the rhetoric competition, Balausa Duisebayeva also won first place, while Yana Chichulina took second place. Yana Chichulina additionally won third place in the “Lyric Poetry” category of the literary performance competition.
Students of the Department of Russian Philology at L.N. Gumilyov ENU participate annually in MPGU’s International Russian Literature Olympiad and Student Research and Practice Conference. The Department consistently pursues a strategy of fostering students’ creative and academic development, providing opportunities to realise their intellectual potential, improve their research skills and develop their literary abilities. Participation in international projects and competitions enables students to present their work at a professional level, exchange experience with fellow young philologists and achieve significant academic and creative success.
ENU students represented their university with distinction at the Olympiad and conference. Their participation provided valuable research experience and marked an important step in their professional and creative development as young philologists, reaffirming the importance of the academic partnership between L.N. Gumilyov ENU and MPGU.
