Open Laboratory Class on Chemical Kinetics for Thermal Power Engineering Students

On 5 November 2026, the Department of Chemistry of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hosted an open laboratory class in the discipline "Chemistry" on the topic "Rate of Chemical Reactions. Dependence of the Reaction Rate on Concentration". The class was conducted by K.Zh. Bazarbayeva, Cand. Chem. Sci., Senior Lecturer, for second-year students of the Kazakh-language group of the educational program "6B07117 – Thermal Power Engineering".
During the class, students carried out experiments, observed how the rate of a chemical reaction changes at different reactant concentrations, recorded the results and analyzed the effect of the initial reactant concentration on the reaction rate. Particular attention was paid to developing skills in conducting chemical experiments, following laboratory safety rules and processing experimental data.
As a result, students consolidated their theoretical knowledge of chemical kinetics and learned practical methods for studying the dependence of the reaction rate on reactant concentration. The class contributed to the development of research and analytical skills and professional competencies of future thermal power engineers.
The open class was held at a high methodological level, and its learning objectives were achieved.
