
ENU representatives witnessed the opening of the az-Zahir Baybars Mosque in Egypt

The opening ceremony of the “az-Zahir Baybars” mosque took place in the capital of Egypt – Cairo. The landmark event is timed to Sultan Beybars’ 800th anniversary and is part of the large-scale program of celebrating the anniversary of the great historical figure. It was attended by Vice-Rector for Science, Commercialization and Internationalization Zhanna Kurmangaliyeva and Professor of ENU Samal Tuleubayeva.

After the restoration, the mosque is officially open to visitors and parishioners again. Restoration work was carried out with the active participation and support of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Memorial plaques in Kazakh and Arabic were also opened in memory of the today’s date.
It should be noted that the” Sultan Az-Zahir Baybars” mosque is recognized as one of the unique objects of cultural heritage.
