Military Department

Military training of citizens at the Military Training Department is carried out according to the programs of reserve officers and sergeants in military accounting specialties on the basis of higher professional education received, with the aim of forming the military reserve of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as additional recruitment of primary positions of officers and non-commissioned officers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Military Department was established in ENU in 2002 by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1403 dated November 6, 2001. Over more than twenty years of development, over 4,000 reserve officers and over 1,000 reserve sergeants have been trained here.

Graduates of the Military Training Department of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University hold high government positions and different offices at the university. Among them: Sayasat Nurbek – Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Duman Ramazanovich Aitmagambetov – Member of the Management Board – Vice-Rector for Strategic Development of the L.N. Gumiyov ENU, Anuar Sapargaliyevich Maikanov – Director of the Administrative Department of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU.

Highly qualified teaching staff from among reserve officers trains students to be morally stable, disciplined, and able to keep military and state secrets, possessing high ideological and moral qualities, as well as knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary for the successful performance of official duties in relevant positions.

To conduct training sessions with students, the Military Training Department has equipped classrooms for all academic courses of military training: a computer classroom, classrooms with interactive equipment, a tactical field, a drill ground, a firing camp, a fleet of combat vehicles, a laser shooting range, educational small arms and a library.

The military-patriotic club of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU was created within the Military Training Department. Meetings with the Great Patriotic War veterans, internationalist soldiers, veterans and soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan are held annually here.

Employees of the Military Training Department from among the teaching staff lead the Republican Public Association of Veterans of Combat operations, and are also part of the Presidium of the Central Council of the NGO “Veterans of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

Students of the Military Training Department regularly participate in various military-patriotic events held in the city.

Recruitment of students to the Military Training Department is carried out on a competitive basis within the state order established by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
