«Visiting professor» programs for 2026-2027 at ENU (funded be ENU)

Period and format of the contract:

Long-term period (offline/ online) – full semester/ full academic year

Short-term period (online) – at least 3 months

Short-term period (offline) - 1 month

Long-term period and Short term (online) only:

Criteria for candidates

- A foreign citizenship;

- Employee of a foreign university/organization or scientific research school/laboratory;

- Academic degree (Doctor of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Candidate of Sciences, Master's degree (only for linguistic specialties)) or a foreign specialist, a practitioner in a specialty corresponding to the profile of the disciplines taught.

Financial terms:

Short-term period (offline) program: The total fee is 2 160 000 tenge per person for the entire period. * the total fee includes all expenses, such as wages, living expenses, flight, medical insurance, visa, etc.

Long term and short-term online programs: The payment for is calculated in accordance with the Point-factor method. Please check the link https://enu.kz/en/page/cooperation/foreign-specialists for the detailed information and the calculation. For offline long-term period, an economy class return airfare is paid additionally in accordance with the established rules. All other expenses, including living expenses, medical insurance, visa, etc. are paid by the employee independently.

Key performance indicators of foreign professors (all items are required):

• conduct lectures and practical classes in the amount of at least 12 credit per semester for long-term period or at least 90 academic hours for short-term period;
• publications in journals included in the WEB OF SCIENCE/SCOPUS databases with the condition of referencing affiliation in ENU / together with ENU teaching staff;
• carry out co-supervision or consultation with a master's and (or) PhD students;
• conduct training sessions and (or) seminars for university employees, for young scientists and PhD students;
• participate in the preparation of scientific articles in journals recommended by the Ministry and (or) collections of international conferences, as well as peer-reviewed international conferences, as well as peer-reviewed international journals;
• prepare a proposal with young scientists and (or) PhD students for participation in grant programs, international scientific research;
• review scientific and (or) research work, educational program and (or) syllabuses.

• if available, documents confirming international recognition, the availability of patents or membership in associations by profile (for practitioners).

This program involves online work with doctoral students on their dissertation topics as their foreign research advisor (in addition to the local main research advisor) for a period of 3 years. The payment is calculated based on the number of doctoral students.

Key Criteria:

• A PhD degree in the relevant specialty or a Doctor/Candidate degree in a specific field of science with experience in supervising doctoral dissertations.
• At least ten publications in the last five years in high-impact journals related to the doctoral program’s field.

Required documents for concluding a labor contract as a foreign doctoral research advisor:

• Copy of a valid passport (foreign citizenship is mandatory);
• CV and list of scientific publications;
• Copies of diplomas confirming the academic degree;
• Employment certificate.;
