
The scientific internship of a master's student is conducted in order to get acquainted with innovative technologies and new types of production in scientific organizations and/or organizations of relevant industries or fields of activity. The internship is carried out in leading scientific organizations and OVPO included in international ratings, including in the relevant direction (by Subject).
The terms of the scientific internship are determined by the Academic Policy of the L.N.Gumilev Eurasian National University and are reflected in the academic calendar approved annually at the meeting of the Academic Council of the University.
The following duration of compulsory scientific internship is provided for students of postgraduate education:
for undergraduates: master 2 (two) credits (2 ESTS) (or 60 hours), no less than 14 calendar days, no more than 1 time for the entire period of study;
The student undergoes a scientific internship according to a Plan approved by a Member of the Board - the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the University.
Undergraduates of the scientific and pedagogical direction with a standard training period of 2 (two) years undergo a scientific internship in 3-4 semesters in accordance with the educational program (hereinafter referred to as the OP).
Undergraduates of the profile direction with a standard period of study of 1 year and 1.5 years undergo a scientific internship in the 2nd semester in accordance with the OP.
Scientific internship of a master's student abroad is possible if the criteria according to clause 7 of the "Regulations on Scientific internship" are met and a positive decision of the Commission is received. Documents for consideration by the Commission must be submitted 10 weeks before the expected date of the internship.
In order to arrange a scientific internship, Students in accordance with the Plan must submit the following documents to the PSA 4 weeks (Kazakhstan), 8 weeks (near abroad), 10 weeks (far abroad) before the expected date of the business trip:
- personal application addressed to the Chairman of the Board - Rector of the University according to Appendix A with visas of the supervisor, head of the department, Dean of the Faculty, supervising employee of the Department of Finance (for students on a contractual basis);
- presentation of the Dean of the faculty addressed to the Chairman of the Board-Rector of the University;
- a copy of the letter of invitation of the university, scientific organization and/or organization for an internship. If there is an invitation in a foreign language, an unofficial translation of the invitation is attached;
- an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the department with a discussion of the internship program and the weekly plan for the master's/doctoral student internship and the results of the selection of undergraduates according to the criteria specified in paragraph 9.3;
- internship program and weekly plan (Appendix B), certified by the supervisor, the head of the department and the host university (it is allowed to provide a scanned version from the host organization).
On the basis of the signed application of the student, the OPO within 5 working days forms an order on the assignment of the student for a scientific internship.
Students who are sent for a scientific internship are required to:
- timely submit accounting documents to the OPO and DF;
- comply with the terms of the internship specified in the order on the referral for a scientific internship.
- visit online libraries (in the case of a distance internship) in order to select material, study literature, make changes and additions to the text of dissertation research.
Failure to comply with the terms of departure and arrival at the University, stipulated by the order for a scientific internship without a valid reason and proper paperwork, is a violation of academic discipline and is the basis for exclusion from the final certification.
If there is a valid reason preventing departure, the student must submit a reasoned application addressed to the Chairman of the Board-the Rector of the University with the visas of the supervisor, the head of the department, the dean of the faculty with the attachment of supporting documents.
Students must comply with the rules of the internal order and the charter of the host university or scientific organization.
Failure to comply with the terms of departure and arrival at the University, stipulated by the order for a scientific internship without a valid reason and proper paperwork, is a violation of academic discipline and is the basis for exclusion from the final certification.
Within 5 days after the end of the scientific internship, the student must submit to the SSO a report on the passage of the scientific internship (in the case of a foreign scientific internship, a report in Kazakh / Russian and English) and a document certifying the passage of the scientific internship (certificate, certificate, certificate, etc.). The report is drawn up according to Appendices C and D, and is individual. The volume of the report must be at least 5 pages and must necessarily include a detailed description of the implementation of all items according to the previously approved schedule.
Within 5 days upon arrival from the scientific internship, the student must submit the following documents to the Accounting and Reporting Department of the University:
– Assignment, the original, certified by the seal of the University with notes on the date of arrival and departure to the destination and arrival from the destination.
– Documents for accommodation – an invoice (tax) or an invoice indicating the payment for accommodation, a receipt for the receipt order, a receipt from the cash register for payment (fiscal receipt), a lease agreement for residential premises, an act of completed work;
– Documents on transport expenses: by air transport (economy class) – electronic ticket, boarding pass for each route; railway tickets, bus tickets if there is a dispatcher's certificate of the bus station. When buying tickets in cash, you must have a fiscal receipt.
– Documents on receipt of scientific internship services on a paid basis in the online/offline format: a tripartite agreement / contract, an act of completed services, an invoice and payment documents confirming the fact of receipt and payment by the master’s student of the service.
According to the master’s student’s application, an advance payment of up to 80% of the maximum amount of compensation is possible before leaving for the internship.
Undergraduates undergoing a scientific internship are reimbursed for travel, accommodation and tuition fees in a fixed amount approved by the order of the Chairman of the Management Board – Rector for the academic year. The amounts for these areas of reimbursement can be distributed at the discretion of the master’s student, but the total amount of all reimbursements should not exceed the established limits. Reimbursement of expenses is made only if there are supporting documents submitted within the established time frame.
In case of exceeding the amounts for completing a scientific internship in comparison with the approved internal standards of these Regulations, the amount of overspending is repaid by the master’s student at their own expense.
